This policy describes how IsThisAPhoto handles an image submitted for an AI-image check.

Images you submit

Your browser sends the selected image to an IsThisAPhoto server function. The function holds the image in memory only while it validates the upload and requests an analysis. IsThisAPhoto does not write the image or analysis result to a file or database, and releases the in-memory image data when the request finishes.

The image is sent to Sightengine solely to analyze whether it is likely to be AI-generated. Sightengine returns an AI probability and, when available, generator-specific scores. Sightengine's handling and retention are governed by its privacy policy and the applicable service agreement. Sightengine's public privacy policy does not state a fixed image deletion time.

Information the site receives

No account or email address is required. The hosting provider processes standard request data, such as an IP address and browser headers, to deliver and protect the service. The server enforces a limit of 10 checks per IP address per UTC calendar day; clearing browser site data does not reset it. To enforce this limit, IsThisAPhoto converts the requesting IP address into a salted cryptographic hash and stores only that hash with a counter until the next UTC daily reset. The raw IP address is not placed in the rate-limit database.

IsThisAPhoto does not sell submitted photos or use them to train models. Application code does not intentionally log image bytes or analysis results. Infrastructure providers may process operational request information under their own privacy terms.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand visits to this site. It uses cookies and pseudonymous browser identifiers. Google Analytics records page views, referral sources, device and browser information, and approximate location. It also receives events showing whether a check was started or completed, whether a feedback button was clicked, and whether a result was shared or copied. A completed-check event includes the verdict, confidence label, and numerical AI probability; a feedback event includes the up or down choice.

We do not send file names, image contents, or detailed detection signals and explanations to Google Analytics. Google processes analytics data as a third party and may transfer it to the United States. See Google's Privacy Policy. You can block analytics in your browser, clear cookies in browser settings, or use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Results, feedback, and contact

The analysis result is returned to the open page and is not saved by IsThisAPhoto in a file or database. The feedback buttons change their on-page state and do not submit a vote to IsThisAPhoto's server. A click sends an up or down feedback event to Google Analytics without a file name or image content. If you email us, we receive the information you include in that message and use it to respond.

Your choices

You can use the website without submitting an image. Do not submit an image if you do not want it sent to Sightengine for analysis. To ask about this policy, email [email protected].

Changes

If image processing, analytics, providers, or retention practices change, this policy will be updated to describe those changes.
